Ubergirl craziness made in Hong Kong – Part 2

Here is the next bunch of movies. Btw. you can find many of the movies on sites like youku, 56.com, todou etc. For some movies it's easier to search for their original Chinese titles. These you can find at the Hong Kong Movie Database when you look up the movie with its English title and then click on the link in the upper right corner that says "Big5".

Ghost Busting (1989) - People are harrassed by ghosts. This is about as much as I can say about this movie ...

The one scene worth mentioning starts when a female ghost captures some people and others come to rescue them. The hero channels his inner Bruce Lee and literally turns into him (his clothes change into a yellow Bruce Lee suit). He then beats up the ghost a bit, but she quickly possesses one of the captured girls who then kicks Bruce through the room and picks him and one of his mates up in a nice double throatlift.

Ghostly Vixen (1990) - Amy Yip plays a ghost who strives to become immortal by sucking the sperm of 100 virgin men born in the 10th month. At the beginning of the movie she just wasted her 98th victim and continues her search in Hong Kong. I guess I was wrong about Demon's Baby. Ghostly Vixen is the best movie ever made.

There are two longer fighting scenes towards the end of the movie. I believe there is one at the beginning , too, but I can't remember right now. During the final fights Ms. Yip lifts a guy by the throat (twice) and throws and kicks a few people around. All of this is interspersed with a lot of goofiness, but there are some nice ubergirlish moments IMO.

Ghostly Vixen - Fight 2 (long)

Haunted Cop Shop 2 (1988) - Here are some quotes from people @HKMDB: "The worst cadets from the police force are assigned to a special unit dealing with the supernatural. As fate would have it, the place where they do their training is infested with spirits. Lots of crass humor, but surpisingly spooky." And: "The method used to finally defeat the head demoness is the stuff of legend, and the inspiration for the immortal parting words that end the film: 'We will remember him every time we urinate!'"

The evil vampiress is chasing a couple of people through the sewers - on stilts, of course. One of them comes up from behind and tries to grab her, but she catches and breaks his wrist. Then she is holding him in the air by his neck singlehandedly. It is only a short scene and - as so often - the only one in the movie.

Smallville Isis - Report

In yesterday's episode of Smallville Lois is possessed by the Egyptian Goddess Isis. Isis wants to reawaken her beloved Osiris and finds Clark to be a suitable host for her husband (and brother).

What I never really understood about Smallville is how they structure their episodes. So the episode is called "Isis", right? Lois' possession happens about 10 minutes into the episode and ends 30 minutes in. That means only half of the episode is even devoted to it's main plot ... Anyway.

There are a few brief, noteworthy moments: When she enters a warehouse, Lois opens and bends a metal gate as if it was made out of cardboard, she pushes the guard that rushes towards her and sends him flying 20 feet through the air, and she rips off the lid of a wooden box. Later she pushes / throws Clark onto a sarcophagus and uses her telekinesis (?) powers once or twice against Green Arrow.

All in all I didn't find it too exciting, but still better regarding ubergirl-moments than the recent Supergirl episode. I've created clips of the scenes I found interesting, including the part when Lois becomes possessed:

Transformation
Enter warehouse (steel bend, push guard)
Push Clark

Upcoming - Dark World 3D

This is an upcoming fantasy movie from Russia about a group of students who awaken mystical powers on their travels to Karelia (@Twitch).

The trailer shows matrix-style fights including some women who look like they belong to some priestesses (sp?) clan. One of the female students seems to get possessed by something (@1:08), joins the clan and easily breaks the current javelin record (@1:33). The movie will be released in Russia on October, 10th.

Here is the trailer:

Taoist Wizard (2010)

As my first post in this blog shows a picture of that movie I thought I'd add a post for it ... Taoist Wizard is a Korean Fantasy movie about a Taoist Monk who is somehow transferred to modern times and has to fight some evil guys. (More @IMDB). Btw., as this is mainly a blog about the supergirls in these movies my descriptions of the movies themselves won't get much better than that ;-).

There are two girls with superpowers in the movie. The first one is some evil creature who is disguised as woman and has a few fighting scenes. She's pretty hot imo but could have had more superstrength scenes, but unfortunately the better scenes go to her male pendant who she is with during the movie. Anyway, she snaps off the tip of a sword with one hand, punches a hole in a wall, sends some guys flying, but is eventually killed during a fight with the Taoist Monk.

The second girl becomes possessed at one point during the movie and gains superpowers for a short time. She only has one interesting scene, but that is very good. After becoming possessed she dresses up nicely, steals some high heeled boots and then lifts a guy's car up single handedly. I believe the Taoist Wizard is able to end her possession somehow shortly afterwards.

The effects are pretty well done and it's too bad there weren't more and longer scenes of the girls in the movie. I have posted most of the scenes to my board some time ago.

There is a TV series planned for 2011 that follows the adventures of the Taoist Wizard (Link).

Haunted Madam (1986)

This is one of those weird little Hong Kong horror flicks from the 1980's (Haunted Madam @HKMDB) that seemed to be quite popular in that era. The first half hour of the movie deals with some superpowered evil guy who is eventually killed and from then on possesses the police woman shown in the pics, granting her superpowers and turning her into an unstoppable killing machine.

She does wreak a bit of havoc when being possessed, but as you might have guessed, the movie is really cheesy. In the scene shown in the pics she kills one of the people our evil guy wants to take revenge on -- by kicking and throwing her around a bit and finally stabbing her with the fingers and then triumphantly lifting her overhead, accompanied by some evil manical laughter.

Regarding her powers: She seems more or less indestructible: Bullets don't harm her, blades get bent when someone tries to stab her etc.; she has superstrength and kicks people around like rag dolls, breaks out of some chains people tie her up with ... Eventually her possession ends and the final fight in the last 5 minutes or so features the male villain again, who has come back.

Cheesy but funny nonetheless. I might post the scenes to my board in the near future ...
